Vazrazhdane and There Is Such a People (ITN) are to submit, to the National Assembly, a draft decision for the holding of a referendum on preserving the Bulgarian Lev, said Vazrazhdane MP Tsoncho Ganev. This is an initiative which the previous National Assembly rejected but the Constitutional Court ruled that a referendum on the matter is legal, that is why we are re-submitting it, Tsoncho Ganev said.

We support Vazrazhdane’s proposal for purely moral reasons, said the chair of ITN’s parliamentary group Toshko Yordanov. “Bulgaria must enter the Eurozone but Vazrazhdane has collected the necessary signatures for the holding of a referendum. We shall ask people to vote against Vazrazhdane’s proposition but we do believe that people must have their say,” Toshko Yordanov said.
