Next on the show: According to Ottoman documents, around 500 dervishes once lived near the present-day village of Bivolyane in the municipality of Momchilgrad. They were trained at Elmala Baba Teke, a renowned religious centre that was once the largest dervish hub in the Balkans. The centre boasted a library of over 3,000 books, many of which have sadly been lost.
