Ornithologists and bird lovers are celebrating National Eagle Day today. On this occasion, representatives of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds present to the general public interesting facts about the life of the Imperial Eagle, the Lesser Spotted Eagle, the Greater Spotted Eagle, the Imperial Eagle, the Golden Eagle

In the Municipal Cultural Institute "Krasno Selo" in Sofia, the ecologists will also tell about the huge efforts they are making for the conservation of these bird species and their return to the nature of Bulgaria.

In Bulgaria, the Imperial Eagle is an emblematic bird, of which there are only a few pairs surviving today. It is a globally threatened species and its population is extremely small. It breeds over a wide range from Central Europe in the west, across the Balkan Peninsula to Mongolia and China in the east.

It winters in the Nile Valley, the Arabian Peninsula, South and East Asia. Some birds in Europe winter in Greece and Turkey, and in milder winters in Bulgaria.
