On June 22, more than 30 chefs from all over the country are gathering in Montana for the folk cuisine festival "Babina Dushitsa" .

The culinary festival is part of the program for the celebration of the Day of Montana in the City Garden. In the park, the participants will cook on fire and wood stoves in traditional vessels, as our ancestors used to cook, the Municipality reports.

The festival will include famous local chefs and cookbook authors, as well as masters of local dishes prepared from all-natural products.

The name of the festival comes from the herb thyme, which in North-West Bulgaria is called "babina dushitsa" /Grandma’s Soul/. Thyme is used in almost every dish in the Bulgarian Northwest.
