Sofia City Court postpones start of the trial against Vasil Bozhkov

The Sofia City Court did not proceed with the case against businessman Vasil Bozhkov. The first session of the court was scheduled for today, but since the court did not order the summoning of the injured parties for today's session, the case was rescheduled for July 5. 

Bozhkov is a defendant in an investigation of an organized criminal group for extortion and corruption crimes and has been brought to court as an instigator in complicity with officials from the State Gambling Commission. The officials in question allowed fees due under the Gambling Act not to be fully collected. As a result of the criminal activity, the state budget suffered damages in the amount of nearly 280 million euros. A total of ten persons were brought to court. Vasil Bozhkov, as organizer and leader of the group, and the other nine - as participants in it.
