In the embrace of the Western Balkan Mountains, amid the picturesque Iskar Gorge, lies the village of Bov – a starting point for several hiking routes. The name of the village of Gara Bov, as well as the nearby village of Bov, is associated with a legend from the 13th century. In 1206, after the death of Baldwin of Flanders, the captured French knight Saint Boeuf was settled on these lands by Tsar Kaloyan. There, the Frenchman built a fortress, and to this day, both settlements keep the memory of his name.
If you enjoy the murmur of water, you will follow the course of the Stara River, whose bed is crossed by numerous rapids, giving the river a romantic charm.
The trail will take you to one of the popular landmarks of this area, the 40-metre waterfall "Pod Kamiko/Under the Stone".
