The first 19 out of 76 modernized passenger cars that Bulgarian Railways bought from the German company Deutsche Bahn arrived in Bulgaria today, the Ministry of Transport announced. The second-hand German rail cars are expected to improve the state of rail transport in the country.

Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov
The deal was made with the assistance of the German Embassy in Bulgaria, Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov said. The carriages will run on the longest railway lines in the country, connecting Sofia with Burgas and Varna. Each train will have a restaurant car. The delivery of the remaining 57 wagons is also expected in June so that they can be put into operation for the upcoming summer season.
