Nearly 6.5 million illegal cigarettes were found during a customs inspection in the area of the Kulata border checkpoint between Bulgaria and Greece, reported the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Sofia.

The cigarettes were placed in 324,950 boxes without a label and hidden in metal cabinets for electrical panels of a freight vehicle operated by a Bulgarian citizen. The composition, consisting of a tractor with a semi-trailer, is owned by two Bulgarian companies.

According to the submitted documents, the driver was transporting electrical equipment from Greece to Lithuania.
