Energy Minister does not rule out the possibility that electricity will rise from 1 July

Caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov has admitted the possibility that electricity for households might rise in price from 1 July this year. The reason for this is the accumulated deficit in the "Security of the electricity system" fund.

"At the moment it is over BGN 450 million and it is expected to reach around BGN 550 million by the end of the regulatory period, which will end in June. There is no way this accumulated deficit will not affect the price," the minister told BNT. He added, however, that there is still enough time to propose "the right measures".
Vladimir Malinov also said that Bulgaria is negotiating with Azerbaijan to increase natural gas supplies to Bulgaria via Turkey as well, not only via Greece.

Currently, about 35% of the country's blue fuel comes from the Caspian Sea via the so-called "Southern Gas Corridor".
