4 companies are invited for negotiations, says an announcement in the public procurement register. They participated in the previous order for the supply of 7 double-decker trains won by Stadler.

The new order is for 35 railcars with at least 200 seats and a speed of over 160 km/hour. The estimated value is EUR 550 million.

In the previous public procurement, the bids of Skoda and Pesa were opened.

A consortium around Alsthom contested the order. The termination came about because of the deadlines proposed by the companies for implementation beyond the set 28 months.

The purchase of new trains for the Bulgarian railways is one of the biggest investments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
