The traditional water blessing of the battle flags and the sacred flags of the Bulgarian army took place at St. Alexander Nevski Square on the occasion of the Day of Valour and the Bulgarian Armed Forces Day.

President and Commander-in-Chief Rumen Radev received the guard of honour of the representative units of the Armed Forces and laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. This was followed by the ceremonial march of the representative units of the Armed Forces.

20 gun salutes were fired during the playing of the national anthem. Three MiG-29 fighter jets flew over the square after the ceremony.

The water blessing ceremony was attended by caretaker Premier Dimitar Glavchev, National Assembly Deputy Chair Rositsa Kirova, Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, senior officers, MPs, cabinet members, representatives of the military-patriotic unions and diplomats.
