ECB with positive assessment of the Law on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria

On May 2, 2024, the Governing Council of the European Central Bank adopted an opinion expressing a positive assessment of the draft Law on the introduction of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria. 

The ECB has welcomed the aim of the draft law to create conditions for a smooth transition to the euro in Bulgaria and for the timely implementation of the necessary measures for this, including the envisaged possibility of exchanging banknotes and coins from leva to euros from the BNB for free, in an unlimited quantity and without time limit.
