The initiative for a common European degree lays the foundations for a common European education area, said the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova at a meeting at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. "A key element of the Common European Education Area are the European University Alliances, and the aim is to increase them from 50 to 60 by the end of the year," Ivanova said. She added that she was pleased that Bulgaria also had universities participating in the European Alliances.

"About 100 million euro has been allocated from the European budget for these European alliances, but there must be stable funding to continue these activities. In 2025, some funds will also be allocated to support the activities of the Common European Diploma," the commissioner said.
