Nurgyul Salimova with fifth draw at the Women's Candidates Tournament in Toronto

In a game that lasted five and a half hours, Nurgyul Salimova drew with the white pieces against Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine) at the Women's Candidates Tournament 2024 in Toronto, Canada. The Bulgarian led throughout the game but failed to capitalize on her advantage.

Six rounds before the end of the tournament Nurgyul Salimova is currently in fifth place with 3.5 points. Aleksandra Goryachkina (Russia), Lei Tingjie (China) and Tan Zhongyi (China) are leading the tournament with 5 points.

The next opponent of Nurgyul Salimova will be Lei Tingjie.

The winner of the tournament will compete for the world title against the current champion, Ju Wenjun from China.
