Fair elections are a priority and there is no alternative for the caretaker cabinet. The government will do everything in its power to prevent electoral fraud, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev vowed at the first meeting of the new cabinet. He said that although the election campaign was expected to be tough, the government would remain level-headed and be guided by the law, common sense and the interests of citizens. "The caretaker cabinet is preparing for the elections, but is not taking part in them," Glavchev stressed.

At today's meeting, the ministers are to vote on the budget for the preparation and holding of the parliamentary and European elections on 9 June. According to preliminary information, the cost will be 100 million leva (50 million euro).
