President Rumen Radev has signed the decree for the appointment of a caretaker government proposed by PM Dimitar Glavchev. The President scheduled the elections for MEPs and early parliamentary elections for June 9, 2024.

President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova attended the swearing-in ceremony of the caretaker government in parliament. In the proposed caretaker cabinet, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has made just one change. Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs will be Stefan Dimitrov, not Ivaylo Tsenov, as was the case in the draft structure and composition announced on April 5. Stefan Dimitrov is a career diplomat and ambassador of Bulgaria in Montenegro. Four ministers and three deputy ministers from the last regular government have been appointed to ministerial positions in the caretaker cabinet.
