The only Bulgarian in the Candidates Tournament - Nurgyul Salimova, lost in the third round of the competition in Toronto against Rameshbabu Vaishali from India. The game lasted almost four hours, as the Bulgarian showed very good defense, but Vaishali managed to reach victory. Salimova's next opponent is Koneru Humpy from India.
After the loss against Vaishali, 20-year-old Salimova remains with one point in her asset. The leader in the ranking is China's Tan Zhongyi, who has 2.5 points. The winner of the tournament will play for the world title against China's Ju Wenjun.
