As of March 31, internal air and sea border controls between Bulgaria and Romania and the countries of the Schengen area will be removed. At 00:20 am on March 31, the first Schengen flight arrives at Sofia Airport from Naples. After arriving at the airport, passengers will collect their luggage and leave the airport without passing through passport control, BNT said.

Passengers departing for Schengen countries will also not undergo passport control. The procedure for them involves luggage check-in, followed by mandatory security check, boarding pass check, and boarding the plane. Sofia Airport is prepared to separate passengers travelling to and from Schengen countries and those travelling to and from other countries.
