For the 35th time, tribute was paid to the victims of the communist concentration camp near Lovech with a procession and memorial service. The procession started from the city center and reached the stone quarry, where the camp was situated from 1959 to 1962.
"Our hearts are filled with sorrow for the innocent blood shed here at this sinister place in our history. We do not want these shameful pages to be repeated, we do not want this part of history to be swept under the carpet, to be neglected. We don't want it to be absent from the history textbooks and for our children not to know what happened here and what we should never allow to happen," said the chairman of the SDS - Lovech Georgi Mitev.
