Metropolitan Gavriil: Choosing a patriarch will not be an easy task

This morning, dozens of lay people flocked to the church of Saint Nedelya in central Sofia to pay homage to the memory of Patriarch Neophyte who passed away late last night. At the same time, believers from all over the country traveled hundreds of kilometers to the Troyan Monastery, where Neophyte was ordained, to pray for his soul. 

"The loss is great because a valuable person has passed away", Lovchan Metropolitan Gavriil told BNT. "Patriarch Neophyte's attitude towards people was always humble and loving, and this is very important for them to feel that there is a sincere relationship." 

According to Metropolitan Gavriil, the election of a new patriarch will not be an easy task, but the hope remains that nothing happens without God's will and that the most suitable one will be chosen, who will best deal with the problems and lead the church forward.
