President Rumen Radev starts consultations with parliamentary parties

The two-day consultations with the president with the political forces represented in the Bulgarian parliament have started. On March 11, the Bulgarian head of state spoke with GERB-SDS, "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) and MRF.

Consultations with Vazrazhdane, the Bulgarian Socialist Party and There is Such a People party are scheduled for Tuesday.

According to the Constitution, after the consultations, the head of state will hand mandate to form a government to a candidate for prime minister from the largest parliamentary group GERB-SDS. There is no time limit in the Constitution in which the president must deliver the mandate after the consultations. After giving it to Mariya Gabriel, nominated as prime minister, she has 7 days to return it with a proposal for the composition of a government or to return an unfulfilled mandate.

The Constitution provides for the awarding of a mandate to the second political force and, in case of failure, to a third party named by the President. If the third attempt to form a government is unsuccessful, early elections will be held.

"The public communication between the parties seemed to revive the ghost of early parliamentary elections, even though the changes in the Council of Ministers were pre-planned in the first 9 months," said President Rumen Radev at the beginning of the GERB-SDS consultations.

The second day of the closed-for-media negotiations between GERB-SDS and PP-DB on the future of governance lasted 11 hours. The participants again remained silent in front of the media. The dialogue continues, Mariya Gabriel told the president.
