GERB-SDS called on the Sofia Municipal Council to hold an emergency meeting on security due to cases of violence involving foreign citizens.

"The first case is from March 6, when foreign students attacked a boy defending a girl. The incident took place on Vitosha Boulevard", the press office of GERB-SDS informed.

The other two cases were from Friday night - a fight at the refugee centre in Ovcha Kupel residential district, and an attack by young men on Pakistani students with British citizenship.

''These incidents have the potential to provoke unpredictable retaliatory reactions", said GERB-SDS. According to the Deputy Chairperson of the Sofia Municipal Council, Georgi Georgiev, it is necessary to increase patrolling teams both in central Sofia and in the high-risk neighborhoods.

There is an increased presence of police officers from the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, who, together with gendarmerie personnel, will patrol the city center. Mobile police teams will maintain public order near the refugee center in Ovcha Kupel residential district, said the press office of the Ministry of Interior.
