2024 marks the 30th anniversary of B.T.R., which is one of the most popular and beloved Bulgarian rock bands. At the end of last year, the musicians marked the beginning of their anniversary with a big concert in Hall No 1 of the National Palace of Culture. Now they continue with a European tour in the summer of 2024, after which they are preparing a national tour.
Their European tour starts on May 30 in Vienna and continues in Zurich, Lyon, Bordeaux, Pamplona, Madrid, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Karlsruhe, Luxembourg, Brussels and Amsterdam.
Several days after their European tour, the rock musicians will start a National Jubilee Tour comprising seven Bulgarian towns. The tour kicks off on June 27 in Stara Zagora, followed by a concert in Varna on August 2. The band will also perform in Burgas on August 9, Plovdiv on August 14, Pleven on August 28 and Veliko Tarnovo- August 29. Their national tour will end on November 20 at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The band‘s guitarist Slavcho Nikolov has more about the rich concert programme:
''We are very happy that the songs from our last two albums placed alongside the big music hits of the past 30 years. These two albums have attracted a lot of young people. We perform a lot of pieces from the last two albums- Invisible Walls and Puzzle. Of course, we have included songs from all the albums we have released so far- 13 albums and a best-of double album''.
Alongside the music tours, the band is working on their first live album, which is expected to be released this year, along with a jubilee vinyl and a CD "30 years B.T.R." from their joint concert with the symphony orchestra of Konstantin Kisimov Musical and Drama Theatre - Veliko Tarnovo, conducted by Georgi Patrikov.
Among these events is the release of their latest single "Words without Lies’’. With this song, B.T.R. adds the seventh piece to the "Puzzle" of their latest album. The band’s lead singer Nasko Penev has more:
''It is a rock'n'roll piece! We like and love this song a lot. It's a remake of a song from the album ''B.T.R. 97", but we couldn't perform it these years because the lyrics are very teenage - it's about classrooms, blackboards and the long break between classes. Slavcho wrote the new lyrics, which are great in my opinion. Of course, we re-recorded the song. We also included our longtime friend Dobromir Polikov with a second guitar and half of the solos."
