At a meeting in Kyiv, Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed cooperation in the sphere of energy and defense. It was agreed that Bulgaria and Ukraine would activate the expansion of logistics and infrastructure in the region.
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Bulgaria for its support and pointed out that his country was interested in joint production in the defense sector. According to him, such high-quality production will provide jobs and at the same time satisfy the deficit needs of Ukraine. "We are talking not only about the wartime, but also about the times after the war," the Ukrainian president added. "Bulgaria is helping us a lot to restore the truth after the actions of Russian criminals," Volodymyr Zelensky also said.
PM Denkov said that the Bulgarian government and the parliamentary majority were working to ensure maximum political, military, diplomatic, humanitarian and material support for Ukraine. "Bulgaria is discussing the signing of a bilateral security agreement, but it must first be approved by the National Assembly," the prime minister said. He recalled that the country is one of the co-founders of an international coalition to fight the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russian territory.
The Prime Minister presented Volodymyr Zelensky with a replica of Khan Kubrat's sword. "Khan Kubrat, who lived in the lands of today's Ukraine and was the first historically recorded ruler of Bulgaria, showed that in order to succeed, you must be united," Nikolai Denkov said. He also explained that the gift symbolizes the joint European efforts to help one of the European nations in difficulty.
"This is our sign that we are with you in this fight. We will be together as much as it is necessary", the Bulgarian Prime Minister said.
