Representatives of 26 agrarian organizations organized a protest in front of the Council of Ministers building and are demanding the resignation of Agriculture Minister Kiril Vatev.
They are not happy with the financial agreement signed between the government and some of the agricultural producers. Several hundred protesters temporarily blocked traffic in the centre of Sofia. “We do not want the resignation of the entire government and of the premier,” Ventsislav Varbanov from the Association of Agricultural Producers said for the BNR. He stated further that the prime minister had been misled by the minister of agriculture who is sowing discord within the sector. “The grain producers negotiated their own stuff, their own subsidy, whereas the rest of us – stockbreeders and farmers are split and we have nothing signed to date,” Varbanov added. The roadblocks by protesting farmers all over the country continue.
