Supporters of Vazrazhdane party blocked the road to the Gyueshevo border checkpoint on the border with North Macedonia in protest against the ban on holding a referendum to keep the Bulgarian Lev until 2043. Among the protesters were MPs Dimcho Dimchev, Tsveta Rangelova and Dimo Drenchev.
According to the organizers of the protest, the Constitutional Court's decision undermines democracy in Bulgaria. ''We will not get in the way of people in a hurry. We want to show our civic position'', the protesters said. Once again, the location of the protest was not announced in advance.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Interior stated that the roadblocks by Vazrazhdane at border crossing are unauthorized and emphasized that the police reserve the right to take steps to prevent and not allow any subsequent unlawful acts of this kind. The party responded that it would not comply with "the orders of institutions subordinate to foreign agents."
