Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov has met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who paid an official visit to Sofia, BTA has reported. Denkov and Fidan said that the excellent cooperation between the two countries should also continue in the field of security and stability in the region. Common actions in the fight against illegal migration and fruitful contacts between the responsible institutions of both countries are of key importance not only for Southeastern Europe, but also for the whole of the continent.

The Speaker of the Parliament Rosen Zhelyazkov and the Turkish guest discussed the possibilities for deepening and expanding the trade, economic and sectoral cooperation between Bulgaria and Türkiye.

Türkiye is one of Bulgaria's leading foreign economic and trade partners, as well as a strategic investor in Bulgaria. Türkiye plays an important role in ensuring the security of energy supplies for the country and the EU, and we appreciate its support for energy security through route diversification, Zhelyazkov said at the meeting in parliament.

The expansion of transport, energy and digital connectivity between Bulgaria and Türkiye will contribute to the economic development, stability and security not only of the two countries, but also of the whole of Europe. This was what President Rumen Radev said at a meeting with Foreign Minister Fidan, the presidency press office reported.
