A plaque is to be unveiled today at the Victoria and Krikor Tyutyundzhian school in the old Plovdiv commemorating the respected teacher of the Armenian language and honourary citizen Elizabeth Vartanyan. The initiative for this belongs to the Armenian community and is an expression of gratitude for her contribution to the preservation of the culture of the Armenian people, as well as for the restoration of the so-called Armenian school in 1990.
The unveiling of the commemorative plaque coincides with the second anniversary of the teacher’s passing. In 2012, Elizabeth Vartanyan was named Teacher No. 1 of the Armenian language in the world by the Ministry if Diaspora in Armenia.
