The BNR’s annual journalism awards will be awarded at a special ceremony on 25 January, the day of the Bulgarian National Radio. You can find more information about the nominees, among them Radio Bulgaria, on our website.

Radio Bulgaria’s “Bulgaria” section is nominated for the Sirak Skitnik Grand Prix for significant contribution to the development of the Bulgarian National Radio because of the team’s contribution to the popularization of Bulgarian culture abroad.

Managing editor Elena Karkalanova has been nominated for the Radio Journalism Award – an individual award for outstanding achievement. Elena Karkalanova is one of three hosts of the podcast Bulgaria Today, which, in concise form, presents the most important events and developments in Bulgaria, plus important events within the Bulgarian communities abroad.

A Radio Bulgaria team has been nominated for the award for radio show or radio project, or music project, or multimedia project of the BNR for the series “Radio Bulgaria visits with the Bulgarians in… Albania.” The series, featuring audio, photographs and video, presented by Krasimir Martinov and Kostandina Belo, focuses on the life of a community of which little is known inside Bulgaria, and conveys a message to our compatriots in Albania that they have not been forgotten, and that Bulgaria is not indifferent to them and to their future.
