Inefficient ministers will be replaced in March, says GERB leader Boyko Borissov

"When March 6 comes, you will see what the rotation (in the Council of Ministers - ed.) will be," GERB leader Boyko Borissov said in Burgas on the occasion of the agreed change of government. According to him, the work of each minister will be analysed and if someone has not made much progress, he or she will be replaced. But the most important thing now, the GERB leader said, was for the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works to draw up a plan and a set of rules to guarantee the implementation of municipal projects across the country.

Boyko Borissov added that there were quality people in each party, but pointed out that the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) had refused to participate with ministers in the cabinet.

"At the moment there is a very democratic principle of strong self-control among all participants in the government, which is good for the country," Boyko Borissov said. Borissov noted that in his time Bulgaria had a good prime minister, referring to himself, but that now it was better to focus on parties and structures.

After the last elections, the main political forces in Parliament agreed to form a coalition government with a rotating prime minister. As a result, in March, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov of We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) will swap seats with Foreign Minister Maria Gabriel, who was GERB's choice for prime minister.
