In his New Year's address to the Bulgarian people, President Rumen Radev wished the New Year to be peaceful and more prosperous than the outgoing year, which, in his words, was torn between creation and anxiety that history is being turned back.
"It has been a year of escalating military conflicts, devaluation of human life, of crises and economic uncertainty affecting every Bulgarian home", Bulgaria’s Head of State added.
"The rise of Bulgaria is impossible in an atmosphere of division and war with national symbols and historical memory," Rumen Radev said.
‘’We need unity and leadership that will strengthen statehood, sovereignty and the rule of law, preserve peace and ensure the security of every Bulgarian citizen, make education, science and culture a real priority, take irreversible steps towards our European future, towards modernisation and accelerated economic and income growth", Rumen Radev went on to say.
President Radev noted that ‘’Bulgarians around the world are connected by the invisible thread of the Bulgarian spirit, our national holidays and traditions, the national tricolour, a symbol of our unity and sovereignty, and by the hope for a prosperous and dignified Bulgaria."
‘’Under the glow of festive fireworks, we must make sure that our children find happiness in a homeland that guarantees their rights and opens opportunities for them to unleash their talents.
