The State Budget Act for 2024 has been promulgated in the State Gazette. For the first time in several consecutive years, the country enters the new year with a regularly voted budget. The expected deficit is 3%. The expected annual inflation is 4.8 percent. The growth of the economy is projected to reach 3.2%.

In 2024, the National Revenue Agency introduced new criteria for defining companies as large or medium-sized taxpayers. 1,350 large companies have contributed more than 1.5 million euros to the budget during the year. Large companies will now be considered those that bring in more than 1.75 million euros per year or whose sales revenue is more than 150 million euros. Average taxpayers are those contributing over €0.75m or having sales revenue over €7.5m. There are about 3,300 such companies in Bulgaria.
