Bulgarian chess players Nurgyul Salimova and Ivan Cheparinov topped the women's and men's standings after the first day of the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The Bulgarian team started the tournament with four wins and just one loss.
