Orthodox church celebrates the Synaxis of the Mother of God

On the second day of Christmas, the Orthodox church celebrates the Mother of God – the Synaxis of the Mother of God.

On this day the focus is on preserving family values, and specifically the role of the parents in safeguarding children and their upbringing. But it also carries an additional message – empathy with refugees, because the family of the Son of God were also refugees.

Today believers also honour St. Joseph, that is why the 26 Decvember is also marked as Fathers’ Day.
