Parliament adopts 2024 state budget at second reading

The Bulgarian Parliament has finally adopted the state budget of 2024 at the second reading. According to the Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev, the budget is realistic, but not easy to implement. He wished that "at the end of 2024, we will see a more successful and more European Bulgaria, adding that special attention in the budget has been paid to increasing incomes. 

The chairman of the budget committee in the parliament, Yordan Tsonev, called the budget historic. 

The deputies agreed to allocate an additional 68 million BGN to the budget (over 34 million euros) for the Culture sector

More than 1,500 investment projects presented by 265 municipalities in the country will be financed from the budget next year. For the purpose of their implementation, an allocation of over 1 billion BGN (500 million euros ). 

All students of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 8th grades will be provided with a one-time grant of BGN 300 (150 euros), BGNES reports. 

Electricity supplied to schools, kindergartens and churches will be transferred to the regulated market. 

It is expected that about 200 million BGN (100 million euros) will be added to the budget for increased fees for the organization and holding of gambling games.
