From February 1, 2024, all children under 14 will travel for free on public transport in Bulgaria. This follows from changes in the regulations that regulate subsidies and compensations in public transport.

Children up to 7 years of age will continue to travel for free on intercity automotive transport, and children from 7 to 14 years of age will enjoy a 50% reduction in this type of transport, announced the Minister of Transport and Communications, Georgi Gvozdeikov, at a briefing in the Council of Ministers. He specified that so far this has been the case for children from 7 to 10 years old.

Another important change is that the state will now subsidize three instead of two daily transport connections between settlements in sparsely populated mountain and border areas.
