Hanukkah to be celebrated with official ceremony at Sofia synagogue

The Organization of Jews in Bulgaria “Shalom” will mark the 8th day of Hanukkah 7 PM tonight at the central Sofia synagogue.

The official ceremony will be attended by President Rumen Radev and the President of the National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov, representatives of the diplomatic missions in this country, Mr. Gon Susana of the Kfar Aza kibbutz – one of the people who experienced the Hamas terrorist attack on 7 October together with his family – his wife and 7-year old daughter, Shalom have announced.

Hanukkah begins on the 25th day of Kislev in the Hebrew calendar (November-December) and is celebrated for eight days. On each of the eight nights, a candle is lit.
