By the end of 2025, 80% of the population will have access to 5G communication, said Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Grigory Grigorov.

At the opening of the info day of the competition for 5G projects under the Connecting Europe Facility, he urged schools, hospitals, municipal and public organizations to take part in the new competition which provides 75% grant funding. The competition is an extension of the initiative for building public points of access to high speed Wi-Fi in public spaces - WiFi4EU. 91% of Bulgarian municipalities which applied have been granted financing and the country is top of the list in the number of vouchers granted within the EU. Efforts are being made under the Recovery and Resilience Plan so that more than 400,000 Bulgarians in remote areas may gain access to high-speed internet and 5G. Parallel with this, all 265 municipalities will be connected to a single state administration high-speed network.
