Finance Minister Assen Vassilev: Bulgaria's President quotes fake news

President Rumen Radev quoted "fake news" in his comments on the 2024 draft budget, Finance Minister Assen Vassilev said in a statement. Assen Vassilev warned that Bulgaria may enter 2024 without a state budget, if the country’s head of state vetoes the financial framework for next year.

The reason for Asen Vassilev's statement was President Radev’s comment on the information that there are plans to sell one-fifth of the State Land Fund. "The draft budget comprises 109 articles and 16 transitional and final provisions. They have all been published on the website of the National Assembly and submitted for discussion. There is no article that envisages the sale of state-owned land. No such revenue is envisaged by the 2024 draft budget", Minister Vassilev said.
