"The regime in North Korea is totalitarian, as it was in Bulgaria until 1989," said MEP Andrey Kovatchev at a forum on EU-North Korea relations in Sofia.
He urged that information about this terror be spread among the younger generations to prevent further atrocities around the world. A study was presented showing that North Korea, ruled by one party and one dynasty, ranks last in the world in terms of freedom of speech and human rights.
The free world should "bombard" North Korea not with weapons but with shows, reality formats, films and music, journalist Georgi Milkov told the forum organised by the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria. Memory cards are the most valuable commodity on the black market in North Korea because they are used to record films and entertainment programmes. People there will not risk their lives for political information, but they are hungry for all kinds of information, Milkov stressed, reports BTA.
