SoFest is here again, this time with its winter edition. The festival will be held between November 17 and 19 at Sofia Live Club in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. SoFest Winter 2023 brings together world class creators, artists and performers. The residents and guests of Sofia will have the opportunity to enjoy three international projects featuring world-class artists and performers.

On the first night the Wladigeroff Brothers will present their album "The Merry Wladigeroffs", created together with their sister Ekaterina, as well as tunes from the swing era of the 1920s and 1930s. Alexander Wladigeroff will play the trumpet and flugelhorn, Konstantin Wladigeroff - piano, Vasil Hajigrudev - double bass and Stoyan Yankulov - Stundji - percussion.

The second night of SoFest Winter (18.11) will feature the popular Macedonian duo "Dac and Aleksandar".

The final night of SoFest Winter (19.11) is dedicated to a project that debuted at this forum three years ago. Balkan Trio B/G brings together three musicians from three different countries, united by the idea of common Balkan roots and culture- Theodosii Spassov (Bulgaria) - kaval and vocals, Vlatko Stefanovski (North Macedonia)- guitar and vocals and Vasil Hadzimanov (Serbia)- keyboards. They prove that despite all the divisions, Balkan music is what gives us identity and sense of community. On Sunday night we will listen to their original compositions combining local folk, blues, pop, rock and jazz.

Theodosii Spassov has more about the unifying role of jazz:

"Jazz is probably the most democratic-liberal music and it embraces all kinds of nuances, phenomena and influences. It's a wonderful game with themes, improvisations and musicians' points of view. It is jazz that promotes other national cultures. It is the link between folk, pop, classical music, European music, Indian, Chinese and other influences. This enriches it and makes it more interesting and topical. We have the opportunity to speak in the most perfect musical language that is felt with heart, soul and mind, which makes us more accessible''.
