Unfortunately, Bulgaria failed to find its Falcone or Kövesi, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said at the anti-corruption forum in Sofia. European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi was also present at the event.

"In the past year, under pressure from outside, with the clear understanding that things cannot go like this any longer, Bulgaria has been making remarkable changes to the laws and structures that should fight corruption, as well as to the structures that should turn us into a modern and developed European country. We are still looking for our heroes to lead these structures," the Prime Minister said. "There are important votes coming up in the next 5-6 weeks and I hope this will complete the process that has been started. If it happens, we will go into a completely different orbit of our European development", Denkov said.
