Train runs over two employees of National Railway Infrastructure Company

Two employees of the National Railway Infrastructure Company died after being hit by a shunting locomotive in the area of the Iliyanci Wholesale Market in Sofia, the Ministry of the Interior announced.

The victims were doing maintenance work on the railway line. "They were cutting bushes and branches. As a result of the noise, they probably didn't hear the approaching train. An investigation has begun, the Ministry of the Interior is providing assistance," announced Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov.

Investigative actions are being carried out on the spot, and checks have been launched by the Labor Inspection, the Transportation Safety Inspection as well as by the National Board for the Investigation of Accidents in Air, Water and Rail Transport.
