Spanish police say they have seized 11 gold artefacts worth more than €60 million that were stolen and illegally exported from Ukraine, reports AFP.

The artefacts, including necklaces, bracelets and earrings of great historical and financial value, were on display at a museum in Kiev between 2009 and 2013 and were illegally exported from Ukraine before 2016, police said in a statement. The items date back to the 8th and 4th centuries BC.

Three Spanish nationals and two Ukrainians, one of whom is an Orthodox priest, were arrested in the operation, which was carried out with the help of authorities in Ukraine, Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and northern Macedonia.
