Todor Tagarev: No imminent danger of a refugee wave from the Middle East

In the wake of Hamas' terrorist acts against Israel and the military operation Israel is gearing up for, the migrant wave from the region is not expected to increase anytime soon, Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said.

He added that the main task of the services and the foreign ministry at the moment is to monitor the situation. "We are ready, if the risk increases, to provide more forces and means to protect the border, but this is not expected in the coming weeks," Mr Tagarev said.

Commenting on the information that Russian fighter jets would fly over the Black Sea, Todor Tagarev said it was a new provocative message from the Kremlin, but there was no direct risk. "Over the past few years, Russian planes have regularly flown over this region, triggering NATO's air defense system. There is no significant difference with the current situation," the minister said.
