“There is no accurate information as to how many Bulgarians there are in the Gaza strip,” Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told reporters, and went on to say that at this time there is no contact with some of the Bulgarians there. “This country cannot organize a humanitarian corridor for evacuating our compatriots from there by itself,” PM Denkov said further. Their evacuation can be part of the “common effort for humanitarian corridors for all foreigners”, he added. As to the Bulgarians in Israel, the Bulgarian prime minister said that, if necessary, there will be more evacuation flights from Tel Aviv with the government aircraft. Nikolay Denkov reiterated that there is no immediate danger of an inflow of migrants towards Bulgaria in the coming days. “We must be ready for a more severe development of the migrant wave but we are not expecting one in the immediate future,” he said.
Because of the challenges and threats to the security environment in light of the events in Israel and the Gaza strip, PM Nikolay Denkov has convened the Council of Ministers’ Security Council for today.
