Traffic congestion on Greek side of Promachonas border checkpoint

A line of vehicles has formed at the main border checkpoint with Greece, Promachonas on the Greek side, because of security measures put in place by the Greek authorities, the Bulgarian Ministry of the Interior has announced.

According to Greek officials, due to the enhanced security measures 100% border control has been introduced. A coordination meeting between Bulgarian and Greek border authorities is scheduled to specify measures for alleviating traffic. On the Bulgarian side of the border checkpoint Kulata, traffic towards Promachonas is normal. The border police are advising people travelling to Greece to also use checkpoints along the Bulgarian-Greek border other than Promachonas andMakaza.

Traffic is also intensive at the exit points along the Bulgaria-Romania border.
