This is "The Way": artist Nikolai Maistorov turns 80

An art show with 50 paintings - a cycle based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, by Bulgarian artist Nikolai Maistorov will be opened today on the occasion of the artist's 80th anniversary. The exhibition, entitled "The Way", will be on display until November 16 at the Union of Bulgarian Artists building at 6 Shipka Street.

Nikolai Maistorov is defined by Bulgarian artist and collector Svetlin Rusev as "the greatest contemporary Bulgarian expressionist". He has over 40 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and over 17 exhibitions in other countries, such as Germany, Holland, Poland, Belgium, Hungary, Japan, Portugal, etc.  He has won numerous awards. In 1995 he was included in the 34-volume "World Encyclopedia of Art" by Macmillan, London, with a solo article.
