Participants from 57 countries will run three distances - 10 km, 21 km and 42 km. Their route passes through the centre of the capital close to most historical landmarks.

Representatives of the world's long-distance running elite from Kenya, Morocco, Ethiopia and Rwanda will also participate at the 40th edition of Sofia Marathon.

After the mass start, transplant recipients, assisted by medical professionals, as well as participants from ParaKids, who help people with special needs and people in wheelchairs, will set off.
