A retro train with a steam locomotive, four cars and one more from the Vitosha Express government train left for Mezdra from the capital's Central Station. The trip was organized by Bulgarian state railways BDZ and United Balkans Association on the occasion of Independence Day and the 135th anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian State Railways.

A historical scene was recreated at Kurilo station - Knyaz Ferdinand I stepped off the train and read the manifesto for the declaration of Bulgaria's Independence. The route of the retro composition includes a stopover in Rebrovo and Svoge, where the organizers have also prepared a program to welcome the composition. If travellers choose to get off at Lakatnik station or Cherepish stop, they can enjoy a mountain walk or visit the Cherepish Monastery.
